Caroline and Kate

Caroline was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer in November 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment during most of 2009.

It was during this time when she lost her hair that she realised how traumatic this can be and that there was very little choice available in hats and headwear other than a wig.

So in 2010 at the end of her treatment, Caroline together with her friend Kate started making a range of quality stylish headwear for men,women and children experiencing hair loss either through alopecia, chemo,radiation or other medical reasons.They particularly wanted their headwear to be available to customers living outside the main cities where often the option to purchase headwear is limited thus their website Head High was created to cater for all.

Our customers are now NZ wide with some repeat overseas orders so we hope we have accomplished our mission to provide a stylish interesting range of headwear, easily accessible online or by appointment and most of all affordable and interesting.

Caroline’s experience with hairloss is invaluable when it comes to creating headwear as she understands the need for comfort and security in headwear but also have some fun funky designs for those days when you want to break out and shine! Combined with Kate’s sewing and designing skills to make their own range of Head High headwear, ensures the extensive range of styles available should suit most tastes. Head High is a Ministry of Health approved provider of headwear for hairloss therefore you can use your wig/headwear subsidy ($408.89 for adult temporary hairloss) to purchase, but please contact us first so we can get the paperwork in order and make the process as simple as possible for you.

$1 from each sale is donated to NZ Cancer Society or Leukaemia and Blood NZ, Sweet Louise or Starship Foundation.

Our headwear is great as a gift (we also do gift vouchers) if you have friends or family going through chemo as it is practical, affordable and so very comfortable. All are gift wrapped when posted and we are more than happy to assist you when purchasing for a friend or relative if necessary.
